2005 Petelethon
Sunday, August 07, 2005
I was watching the telethon and boy most of the time I was crying my eyes out. My sister and I adopted a 2nd chance dog. She is the best dog, she is so sweet and loving. I sing to her all the time.....My baby does the Hanky Panky and Me and Stinky Jones. Stinky Jones is to the tune of Me and Mrs. Jones. I actually saw the dog that we went to the shelter to adopt. We had heard about this puppy that had been thrown from a speeding truck, so we went to adopt her and she was still in foster care. We looked at all the other hopefuls. We have had small dogs all of our lives so that is what we looked at first. Usually the small dogs go first, and this day was no exception...

We were drawn to a pretty white dog, who wanted us to pet her and be with her so bad that she was smooshed up against her cage door. Then we read her profile and found out that she was a 2nd chance dog and was missing her right hind leg. When it was raffle time, a volunteer read her profile and asked if anywone was there to adopt Cassidy. My sister and I were the only ones who wanted this amazing dog. There were excuses left and right... "I'm affraid my son would hurt her... " I'm a big girl and she can pull me off my feet.

I think this shows that sometimes people only want perfection, and anything outside the "norm" is unaceptable. If we had shared in their outlook then we would have missed out on Cassidy.
